| با تدقیق در آثار دیوید هیوم، مشخص می‌شود هدف او از تبیین مسئلۀ شر همان هدفی است که در سراسر فلسفۀ دینش دنبال می‌کند، یعنی حمله به الهیات طبیعی و معرفی کردن آن به عنوان امری فاقد وجاهت معرفتی و غیرنظام‌مند. بنابراین، خلاف آنچه در بیشتر تقریرها بیان شده، دایر بر این که هیوم با بیان مسئلۀ شر قصد دارد استدلالی علیه وجود خدا بیاورد، هدف هیوم حمله به این ادعای الهیات طبیعی است که گزاره‌های دینی عقلاً غیرقابل اثبات‌اند، نه آن که این گزاره‌ها کلاً مردود باشند؛ یعنی به لحاظ معرفت‌شناختی آنها را بیرون از محدودۀ شناسایی انسان می‌داند، نه آن که به لحاظ وجودشناختی فاقد هستی باشند. بر همین اساس، در این جستار با پژوهشی کتابخانه‌ای، به دنبال آن هستیم که با نشان دادن دو گونه شاهد، که یکی اذعان صریح به امکان وجود علتی برای نظم موجود در جهان در متن آثار هیوم (پایان هر دو کتاب تاریخ طبیعی و گفتگوها) است، و دیگری راه‌حل‌هایی است که هیوم برای مسئلۀ شر ارائه می‌دهد، مشخص گردد تقریر مشهور از مسئلۀ شر او، که استدلالی علیه وجود خدا قلمداد می‌گردد، با در نظر گرفتن متن آثار وی چندان صحیح نیست. بنابراین لباس الحاد را از تن هیوم درمی‌آوریم و او را به نوع خاصی از ایمان‌گراییِ قریب به رازوارگی ملبس می‌کنیم. | ||

| Close examination of the works of David Hume shows that his aim to explain the problem of evil is to attack natural theology and introduce it as a situation that is non-epistemological and unsystematic. So, contrary to what the majority of interpretations which typically express that he makes an argument against the existence of God, Hume wants to show that the statements of natural theology are rationally unprovable, and he does not want to totally decline them. As a matter of fact, they ontologically exist, and are epistemologically out of human cognition. This article shows that the popular interpretation is false, and this would be done in two ways: the first is Hume's statements about the cause of the world (at the end of both Natural History and Dialogues), and the second is Hume’s solutions for the problem of evil, that have mystical streaks. Based on these fact, it will be shown that Hume is not an atheist, but he is a mystical fideist. | ||
